Montana Chemical Dependency Center (MCDC) - MCDC was the only 24-hour residential in-patient chemical dependency treatment facility in Montana. MCDC has 76 licensed beds, which include 70 treatment beds and 6 detoxification or medical beds. For 56% of the MCDC admissions in 2003, alcohol was the primary drug of choice. Twenty-three percent of the admissions were for primary abuse of methamphetamine and 11% were for primary abuse of marijuana. An average of 2.91% of total MCDC admissions between 2001 and 2003 were return admissions. More than half of the clients entering drug rehab started using drugs before the age of 18 and had never been to a drug rehab or addiction treatment center previously.

As of March 24, 2005, there were 17 drug courts in existence or being planned in Montana. Six drug courts had been operating for more than 2 years, 4 were recently implemented, and 7 were being planned at that time.

During 2004, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) reported making 88 arrests for drug violations in Montana. During 2004, there were 1,532 drug offenses charges against juveniles in Montana, and the Montana multi-jurisdictional drug task forces (MJDTF) made 1,028 total drug arrests. There were 664 arrests for drug abuse violations in Montana during 2003. This is down from 2002, when there were 725 such arrests. During 2001, there were 442 drug violation arrests.
