paradise drug rehabAs of September 29, 2005, there were 120 drug courts in existence or being planned in Missouri. Sixty drug courts had been operating for more than 2 years, 30 were recently implemented, and another 30 were being planned at that time.

During 2003, 44.5% of the Federally-sentenced defendants in Missouri had committed a drug offense. Approximately 30% of the drug offenses involved crack cocaine.

From January to July 2005, there were 9,822 arrests in Missouri for marijuana possession. During full year 2004, there were 18,438 such arrests. During 2004, the Missouri State Highway Patrol made 351 arrests for driving while intoxicated by drugs and the Drug Enforcement Administration made 870 arrests for drug violations.

High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) - Designated in 1996, the Midwest HIDTA is responsible for Cape Girardeau, Christian, Clay, Jackson, Lafayette, Lawrence, Ray, Scott, St. Charles, Greene, Benton, Buchanan, Jasper, Texas, Platte, Marion, and St. Louis counties in Missouri, as well as counties in Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, and North Dakota.

As of October 11, 2005, the total Missouri Department of Corrections offender population was 101,119. Among those incarcerated in Missouri prisons, 6,832 had committed drug offenses.
